VAT RELIEF

VAT Exemption and VAT Relief are two phrases you may have heard a lot when looking at mobility products.

Most of our products have two prices - one with and one without VAT. VAT Relief is available on products specially designed for use by those with a long term medical condition or illness in a personal or domestic setting.

We hope that this guide will offer some explanation of who and when you can claim VAT Relief as well as the process of how to claim VAT Relief at the time of ordering online and in store.

Why Two Prices?

Most of the products on this website have two prices - this means that this product qualifies for VAT relief and can be purchased without paying the VAT.

This status is given to products which are specifically designed to be used to relieve the symptoms of a chronic illness or disability.

Where a single price is shown, the product does not qualify for VAT relief and the price includes VAT.

Am I Eligible?

Where two prices are shown for a product, the lower price (which excludes VAT) is available to those who are chronically sick, disabled or terminally ill. Chronically sick means that you have an illness that is likely to last a long time (such as arthritis, angina, etc). Disabled means substantially and permanently handicapped by illness or injury.

You do not have to be registered disabled to claim relief from VAT, but the nature of your illness or disablement must be specified in your declaration.

Unfortunately you do not qualify if you are elderly but able-bodied or if you are only temporarily disabled or injured.

How do I claim?

Claiming VAT relief is simple and quick. There are no assessments and you do not need to provide medical proof of any disability or condition. You simply need to fill in a quick form either online, in person or through the post.

Online

You will be asked whether you wish to claim relief from VAT during the checkout process. If you do wish to claim you will just need to state the illness or medical condition you are suffering from and tick to confirm that you wish to claim exemption and that the information you have provided is correct. It's that easy!

In Store

When buying an item in store it is just as easy to claim VAT relief as it is online. Our friendly staff will provide you with a simple form to fill out where you simply need to list your condition, name, address and provide a signature. It takes under a minute to fill out and can help save you a lot of money.

By Phone

If you would like to place your order by telephone and wish to claim VAT relief, we will have to charge you the VAT initially and then refund it to you once we have received a signed declaration. Once we receive your telephone order, we will send your goods to you along with a VAT declaration form for you to sign and send back to us using the Freepost address provided. Once we have received your signed declaration we will refund you the VAT difference to the same card you paid with.

We are required to retain a copy of your declaration and it may be passed to HM Customs & Excise as evidence of your eligibility. Your data is stored securely and will never be used for any marketing purposes or given to any 3rd parties. The original QUICKIE is an icon that’s influenced wheelchair design for over 40 years. What made it so special? A revolutionary design principle that minimized propulsion effort whilst maximizing movement. 

With fewer stress points thanks to its elongated sides, QUICKIE’s unique oval tubing is stronger than a conventional round tube. Less likely to flex under pressure, the eloquent oval frame is also lighter as the shape uses less material. But that’s not all - frame clamps can’t rotate on an oval shape, so there are less moving parts too!

Increasing strength doesn’t always mean increasing weight. That’s why the NITRUM’s oval frame is sculpted from aerospace-grade 7020 Aluminium. Boasting exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio, we specially heat-treat the 7020 to unlock its true potential. The result is a hardened frame that can be significantly thinner and lighter without any sacrifice to strength.

A unique-twist to backrest folding with one hand, simply grab the (optional) Twist-and-Lock backrest bar and twist it to release, fold and load the NITRUM into your car. With double-locking, you can also use the same bar to lift the chair. It’ll also lock without removing your sideguards or low-profile cushion too.

The NITRUM has two ergonomic grab bars (complete with rubber grip pads) on the backrest and cross-tube for lifting. Helping you to grip and balance your wheelchair, it’ll also reduce the strain on your wrists (particularly during repetitive daily-lifting)
