Tyre sizes can be confusing sometimes, the most important information to remember when purchasing tyres or inner tubes are the three digit metric sizes that identify the diameter of the wheel are as follows:
24" = 540
25" = 559
26" = 590
The next number you will encounter is the width of the tyre, commonly this would be 1" for everyday wheels but wider are available for a softer ride or better grip off road.
There is much more information on all tyres sizes on the internet but these are the most commonly use in our industry. If in doubt feel free to give one of the team a call and we will guide you through it.
We use two tyres of inner tubes Schrader valve and Presta valve. The most commonly used valve style is Schrader, typically known as "Car Valve" as they are the same valve style as used on your car. The second valve type Presta is more commonly used on sports wheelchair and road bikes, you can tell the difference as the Presta valve has to be unscrewed to inflate and deflate, also it is longer and thinner compared to the Schrader.
